MATERIALS:
PREREQUISITES: The following items are from Korpi's World (second item in materials list) to review necessary topics that are expected to be understood and used as tools to achieve other goals as the class progresses. This link (LINK) will take you to Korpis World website where you can find the following notes, worksheets, and worksheet answers for the following topics.
  • Parent Functions: You should be able to recognize the important parents functions such as linear, quadratic, rational, exponential, and logarithmic functions. Also, you should know how transforming functions changes the function in the equation and on the graph.
  • Simplifying Expressions: You should be able to manipulate and simplify expressions using the order of operations, rationalizing expressions with radicals, factoring polynomials, and simplifying fractions within fractions.
  • Equations of Lines: You should know how to make the equation of a line using Point Slope Form, and be familiar with slope-intercept form.
  • Domain, Range, and Symmetry: You should be able to find the domain, range, and symmetries (odd, even, or neither) of all parent functions, and thus all functions which are transformations of parent functions. You should also be able to find end behavior and vertical asymptotes.
  • Trigonometry: You should know the unit circle, the definitions of all trig functions, and the important identities.
